A Consultant Who
Knows the Weight
You Carry

After nearly two decades in and around pastoral ministry, I know firsthand that it can be both deeply rewarding and incredibly difficult. Ministry has a way of taking you on a roller coaster — moments of great joy followed by seasons that can feel isolating and heavy.

My wife Becky and I planted a church together in 2008 and have lived the full weight of what ministry demands from the inside. I know what it costs a pastor to lead Sunday after Sunday. I know what it costs a family. And I know how quietly and invisibly a leader can begin to drift — not from a lack of faith, but from a lack of the structural support that keeps healthy people healthy under sustained pressure.

Most pastors never ask for help — not because they don't need it, but because the cost of asking feels too high. The risk to their position, their reputation, their congregation. Watchmen: Guarding the Call exists to be the place where that calculation changes. Where the cost of being honest is low, and the cost of staying silent is recognized for what it actually is.

My work draws from clinical behavioral assessment, organizational leadership, biblical theology, and family systems theory — grounded in a Master of Arts in Youth and Family Ministry from Lee University and certification as a Judgment Index™ practitioner. But more than any credential, I bring the pastoral heart and hard-won wisdom of someone who has been where you are and found a way forward.

My Family Is
My First Ministry

After nearly two decades in ministry, I know firsthand that it can be both deeply rewarding and incredibly difficult. Ministry has a way of taking you on a roller coaster — moments of great joy followed by seasons that can feel isolating and heavy.

Over the years, one truth has become clearer to me than anything else: my family is my first ministry. Churches grow and change. People come and go. Roles shift over time. But my family is the constant gift God has entrusted to me, and protecting that calling has become one of my greatest priorities.

I love ministry. It is what God has called me to do. But I have also learned that caring well for those closest to me requires something deeper — it requires guarding my own heart and staying spiritually and emotionally healthy.

Ministry can be lonely, and too many pastors carry that weight in silence. My desire is to see pastors lead with strength, serve with joy, and finish their race well — without losing their soul or their family along the way.

What This Work
Looks Like in Real Life

Details have been kept confidential to protect the leaders and families involved. These are real engagements with real outcomes.

Prevention & Individual Care

The Brink of Resignation

The Situation: A senior pastor had reached a total breaking point — ready to quit ministry entirely. The relentless pursuit of church success had quietly sacrificed his marriage and left him in a state of chronic burnout and deep resentment. No one on his board knew how close to the edge he was.

The Work: Together we conducted a Soul and System Audit — creating healthy rhythms that protected his marriage first. Years of accumulated pain were processed honestly. Real-world accountability was established for his schedule and personal health. His wife was brought into the process with care.

The Outcome: Instead of an exit in flames, this pastor rediscovered his calling. His marriage is back at the center of his life. He is leading his church from a place of overflow rather than empty exhaustion — and his congregation has no idea how close they came to losing him.

Crisis Response & Long-Term Recovery

From Scandal to Restoration: A Five-Year Journey

The Situation: A ministry leader faced total collapse following a legal and moral failure. The fallout resulted in immediate removal from ministry and a family in absolute chaos. Most people had written him off entirely.

The Work: Over three years of intensive pastoral and marriage counseling, I walked alongside both the leader and his wife. Rigorous accountability systems were built. Root issues were addressed honestly. A sustainable path forward was mapped — one step at a time, with no shortcuts.

Five Years Later: The marriage is not just surviving — it is restored. The leader has stepped back into a safe, healthy space to use his gifts as a volunteer. A life and a family that looked like total losses have been redeemed. That is what long-term, committed care can accomplish.

If You're Reading This,
You Already Know Something

The Pastor Who Is Quietly Struggling

You're holding it together publicly and carrying it alone privately. You don't need to be in crisis to reach out. In fact, the best time to call is before the crisis. A confidential conversation costs nothing — and changes everything.

The Elder Board Facing a Crisis

The decisions you make in the next 48 hours will shape the next several years. You need someone who has walked this road, who is objective, and who can guide you with clarity and care for everyone affected — including the pastor.

The Church That Wants to Prevent One

You don't have a crisis right now — but you want to make sure you never do. Or that if one comes, your structure can handle it with dignity. That is the most important investment a board can make, and the one most often delayed until too late.

"

Secrecy doesn't starve sin. It feeds it. Every area of a leader's life kept hidden from safe, trusted people becomes a place where darkness grows unchecked.

No obligation. No judgment. No agenda beyond understanding what you're facing and whether there's a way I can help. Whether you're in crisis, sensing something is off, or simply building systems you hope you never need — reach out. Today is a better day than tomorrow.
